Mindlab started in 2004 as a small outfit of tutors who believed that students could benefit from a unique system of support that was more comprehensive and able to pinpoint their learning gaps. They believed that with genuine care and a rigorous support system, students could benefit greatly both in terms of grades as well as young people. The first centre was set up in Old Airport Road.

In 2009, Mindlab expanded its operations to Far East Shopping Centre in Orchard Road. Within 4 months, it had reached full capacity and a new unit was acquired on the same floor to meet increased demand.

December 2009 saw the opening of its new centre at Tanjong Katong Road. This centre took over the operation of the original Old Airport Road Centre and provided students with 11 rooms of conducive study space as well as the full resources for the teachers to provide the necessary support to the students.

In today's world, students are judged primarily on their academic achievements. While the status quo will not change overnight, we still strive to provide a more holistic educational experience. By understanding and connecting with our students, we try to help them achieve their maximum potential not only as students but also as people. Comprehension of the fact that students have personalities that are greater than the sum of the subjects they study is essential. Our tutors are encouraged to engage the students and develop camaraderie. This helps the tutors to offer support that extends beyond the realm of the classroom. We help our students not only to achieve the best grades, but also to excel in all other fields of everyday life.
