ACS International (ACSI) is one of Singapore’s most established IB World Schools, offering the IB Diploma Programme from its Dover Road campus. Students at ACSI typically take a mix of Higher Level and Standard Level subjects across the six IB subject groups, with strong cohorts in the sciences, mathematics, and humanities.
The IB at ACS International
ACSI follows the standard IB DP two-year structure. Most students begin their subject choices in Secondary 3 and 4 (pre-DP), and those who enter the DP directly in Year 1 often find the jump in rigour — particularly in IB Mathematics and the sciences — more demanding than expected.
Internal assessments at ACSI have specific submission windows. The Chemistry IA, Physics IA, and Mathematics IA are typically due in the first half of Year 2, which creates a crunch period when students are simultaneously preparing for mock exams. Getting ahead on IA drafts during Year 1 is a consistent advantage we help students build.
Where Students Typically Struggle
IB Mathematics (AA and AI): The transition from IGCSE or IP mathematics to IB HL Mathematics is steep. ACS International students in Math AA HL frequently seek support on the Analysis and Approaches content — particularly calculus, vectors, and the Statistics & Probability option. For Math AI SL, the data-handling and statistical inference sections are common weak points.
IB Chemistry HL: The organic chemistry and equilibrium topics in Year 1 often catch students off guard. Our tutors work methodically through each Option and Paper 3 strategy, which students at ACSI consistently cite as the area they feel least prepared for.
IB Physics HL: Electricity and magnetism, waves, and the Fields option are areas where ACS International students regularly come to us for support. Our tutors are experienced with Paper 3 data analysis questions, which require a different approach to the standard problem-solving format.
How Mindlab Helps ACSI Students
Our tutors work in small groups (maximum 4 students) or one-on-one, depending on the student’s needs and schedule. Sessions are structured around the student’s current ACSI timetable — we align our revision pace with school tests, mock exams, and IA deadlines rather than following a generic curriculum.
We have supported ACSI students to grades of 6 and 7 in subjects they were initially scoring 4s in. Our approach emphasises understanding the IB mark scheme and examiner expectations, not just content knowledge. For a subject like IB Economics, this means practising evaluation paragraphs and diagram application — the skills that differentiate a 5 from a 7 at Higher Level.
A Track Record With ACS International
Mindlab International has worked with dozens of ACS International families since 2009. Our testimonials include students from ACSI who improved by two or more grade boundaries in their final IB examinations. We understand the ACSI environment — the culture of high expectations, the demanding pace, and the specific internal assessment calendar — and we structure our support accordingly.
